About New Roots Glynn

At New Roots Glynn, we are more than just a recovery organization—we are a community of support, strength, and hope for those affected by Substance Use Disorder. As part of the Georgia Council for Recovery, we are a small but vital branch of a much larger movement that spans across the state of Georgia. Together with other Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs), we share a common mission: to increase the impact of recovery through education, advocacy, training, and peer recovery support services.

Our Mission

Our goal is to eliminate the stigma surrounding addiction and provide resources to individuals and families at every stage of their recovery journey. We believe that recovery is a process that requires compassion, community, and access to the right support systems—and that’s exactly what we strive to offer.

Our Founder

Heather Woodard

New Roots Glynn was founded in 2022 by Heather Woodard. Heather lived for years misusing alcohol to cope with life on life’s terms. From 2011 to 2018, she would check in to detox and inpatient facilities, recovery residences and has been incarcerated on alcohol-related offenses. In 2018, she finally had enough and packed the clothes she had left and went to treatment once again.

She’s been in long-term recovery from substances since June 2nd 2018. When asking Heather what it took, she says hard work on the inside, forgiveness and discipline, treatment, sometimes medication and a lot of support.

In 2021, after receiving her Certified Peer Specialist – Addictive Disease, she learned about Recovery Community Organizations already established in Georgia and knew Glynn County needed one.

She began attending community meetings and holding all-recovery meetings at Saved by Grace on a regular basis.

With unwavering support from the local community, Heather’s vision for a dedicated space where anyone in recovery could feel safe and supported became a reality. In April 2024, New Roots Glynn opened its doors at 1507 Reynolds Street in Brunswick, Georgia, welcoming individuals and families into a space designed for healing, learning, and growing together.

Our Vision for the Future

New Roots Glynn is committed to expanding our reach and continuing to provide free, accessible support to anyone seeking recovery. We are working to build a more resilient community that understands recovery is not a one-size-fits-all journey. Whether you need help getting into treatment, finding housing, or simply want to connect with others on a similar path, we are here for you.
