Recovery Community Organizations are independent, non-profit organizations led and governed by people in recovery. While each organization may have a mission that addresses the particular needs and concerns of its local community, all focus on the following core purpose:
Public Education - Understanding substance use disorder and recovery
Advocacy - Ending discrimination against people in or seeking recovery
Services - Peer-based recovery support services
Inclusion - Embracing all people and all pathways to recovery
Like barrier islands, we aim to help protect our coastal community from the waves of the substance abuse and addiction epidemic and end the stigma around it. Like the Southern Live Oak, we will do so by being a community deeply rooted in recovery with branches of support that are accessible to all.
As a part of the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse, we are a small branch of something much bigger than us. Communities state wide are creating similar Recovery Communities Organizations. Together our mission is simple. "To increase the impact of recovery in our communities through education, advocacy, training and peer recovery support services." -Georgia Counsil On Substance Abuse
As a non-profit organization we rely solely on the generosity of our community and members. Please consider donating to our cause.
We invite you to join us for an All Recovery Meeting, weekly hosted at 172 Cornerstone Drive (across from Tractor Supply).
